My Heroes

Whoo, this piece was a lot of work but it's finished. And I couldn't feel more happy about having done it because of what it stands for. This is the last day of Women's Month but by no means the end of me showing my appreciation for the many, many women who inspire me.

This piece is my tribute to the strong, amazing ladies of the comic world. Now I know there are many real women I could've done an art piece for but I just felt really strongly about drawing superheroines. Because even though these characters are fictional they've had a real-life impact on me both growing up and now. They helped me see that even if you are a woman you can be strong, and be a hero, and tango with the best of them.

The representation of women in comics is by no means perfect but them just being there meant a lot to me. I'm sure someday though, with more and more women getting into comics both as consumers and creators, we'll see a much better representation, as well as a more equal presence.

There's tons more I'd like to say about these super ladies and how they've inspired me, but I'll just keep this short and sweet. Here's to the future of women in comics, and women as a whole, getting better. Cause we ain't there yet. But I know will be.
